The Rev. Allison Rainey English, Rector of Calvary, Cincinnati

To help celebrate the installation of the Rev. Allison Rainey English as the 19th Rector of Calvary Church back on April 27, 2019, the parish commissioned Dr. Mack Wilberg to compose a new anthem for choir and organ, Lift up your hearts! Dr. Wilberg has served as Music Director of the legendary and Grammy Award-winning Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square (Salt Lake City, Utah) since 2008.

Although the Tabernacle Choir experienced extended hiatus during the pandemic, as of March 6 they have returned, along with the Orchestra at Temple Square, to perform live on their weekly television and radio program, Music and the Spoken WordLift up your hearts! (with Dr. Wilberg’s new full orchestration) was the concluding work performed on the March 20 broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word (11:30 EST); click here to view the performance of the anthem.

As is the case each week, this program was broadcast by over 2,000 television and radio stations around the world, available on YouTube & Facebook, and featured on the Choir’s website. Begun in 1929, Music and the Spoken Word is the world’s longest-running national radio program carried continuously on a network, and the longest-running non-news program in television history.
