As part of National Preparedness Month, the Department of Homeland Security Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships has coordinated the Protecting Places of Worship Week of Action between September 14 – 25. The week includes two webinars open to the public:
September 20 at 2 p.m. Eastern: Building Partnerships that Promote Safety and Security for Places of Worship and Community Spaces
September 21 at 2 p.m. Eastern: Security Resources for Protecting Places of Worship
In addition to attending these webinars, faith leaders are encouraged to take on the following calls to action:
- Encourage Friends and Loved Ones to download the FEMA App
- Encourage people to complete a citizen responder training
- Encourage Organizational Leadership to Conduct a Table-Top Exercise
- Create, amplify and share social media content promoting disaster preparedness
- Host a Community Preparedness Workshop or Activity
Congregational Preparedness
- Complete a personal safety training (Until Help Arrives, CISA Active Shooter Preparedness Training)
Organizational Preparedness
- Schedule/Complete a facility assessment using Houses of Worship Security Self-Assessment | CISA

Community Preparedness
- Participate in a community preparedness event
- Start/Join a local first responder – community partner roundtable
- Collaborative sharing of Protecting Places of Worship programs, resources and tools on websites
