John has served the Episcopal Church for over 30 years and appreciates the opportunity to continue to be of service to Bishop Breidenthal and the Diocese of Southern Ohio as Canon to the Ordinary.

He was ordained in 1990 in the Diocese of Ohio after practicing law in Northwest Ohio from 1975 to 1987. John began his ministry at Christ Church, Alexandria Virginia. Following that call he served at St. Paul’s, Akron, Ohio; Grace Episcopal, Menomonie, Wisconsin; Good Shepherd, Denver, Colorado and St. Alban’s, Bexley, Ohio. During these years of ministry he also served on the Bishop’s staff in the Diocese of Colorado as a Regional Missioner and in the Diocese of Southern Ohio as Canon for Congregational Development, Canon for Transitional Ministry and now Canon to the Ordinary

John holds a B.S in Music Education and a M.A in Higher Education Administration from The Ohio State University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Toledo College of Law. He earned his Masters of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary.

He has also served as adjunct faculty at Seabury Western Seminary, Bexley, Ohio, CREDO Faculty, several interim ministries throughout the church and has lead numerous retreats and workshops. He continues to serves as a clergy coach, transitional consultant and spiritual director.

John is happily married to Pamela and is the proud “Papa” of four sons and their wives, and nine grandchildren.
