From Bishop Smith: An Update on the Rev. Canon Scott Gunn

Dear Friends in Christ:

Grace to you, and peace, in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior, who was, and is, and is to come.

The Rev. Canon Scott Gunn

I am delighted to be writing to you with a positive update about the Rev. Canon Scott Gunn’s health situation. Since my message last Friday, Scott has made significant progress, and his medical team report that all signs are pointing toward a full and complete recovery. His doctors expect that he will be able to travel home from Singapore in four to six weeks. While he may be released from the hospital before then, he will need to continue his rehabilitation on an outpatient basis before his doctors can recommend long-distance travel.

Scott’s wife, Sherilyn Pearce, will remain with him in Singapore, and right now, they are both entirely focused on his rehabilitation and recovery. Please continue to refrain from calling, texting, or emailing so that they may devote their energy entirely to Scott’s health and the extraordinary medical and therapeutic resources that are supporting his miraculous progress.

Most of all, please continue to pray. I give thanks to God for your continued faithfulness, and I know that both Scott and Sherilyn are experiencing the power of your prayers each day. When Scott has returned to us, I know that he will have powerful testimony to share about the ways that prayer has sustained him and healed him in body and soul.

O Lord, your compassions never fail and your mercies are new every morning: We give you thanks for giving our brother Scott both relief from pain and hope of health renewed. Continue in him, we pray, the good work you have begun; that he, daily increasing in bodily strength, and rejoicing in your goodness, may so order his life and conduct that he may always think and do those things that please you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
