This Lenten program, facilitated by Dr. Larry Welborn of Fordham University, centers on a writing, discovered in 1886, in the grave of an Egyptian monk which claimed to be the eye-witness account of the trial, death, and resurrection of Jesus by Simon Peter himself. Many of the unique features in the Gospel of Peter are productive of deep theological insights. Close reading of the Gospel of Peter carries us back to the canonical gospels in search of the meaning of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
