In the Episcopal Church, we are guided by the vision of Becoming Beloved Community, our church’s long-term commitment to racial justice, healing and reconciliation. We’re all on a lifelong journey toward God’s dream, taking intentional and faithful steps as if moving through a labyrinth.
Dismantling Racism (Anti-Racism) training is a part of our diocesan commitment to Becoming Beloved Community and is required for all clergy, staff, lay leaders and volunteers, and contract workers.
The next Dismantling Racism Bible Study trainings will be:
Thursdays, March 16, 23, 30 at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sign up here
Wednesdays, May 3, 10, 17 at 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sign up here
The trainings will be co-led by Miriam McKenny, Director for Dismantling Racism, and other diocesan leaders. Three additional trainings will be offered in the second half of the year.
If you are not able to participate in a certification training in this way, you are invited to participate in a training through the Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing online. There is a $50 charge for their program for anyone outside of the Atlanta Diocese. If you do choose to participate in this training, upon completion please send the certificate so that we can log your certification.
If you have any questions about this training requirement or how your parish can support this work of dismantling racism, please reach out to Emma Helms-Steinmetz, director of formation projects and family ministry.
