Director of Youth, Family, and Outreach Ministries, St. Thomas, Terrace Park

St. Thomas, Terrace Park, is looking for a full-time lay Director of Youth, Family and Outreach Ministries.  This role will work with our parish youth and families to organize and lead an effective ministry including worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and fellowship. This role will help manage our outreach relationship and activities at Thomaston Woods, one of two Affordable Housing Communities connected with the church in Clermont County.  Also, this role will supplement clergy with pastoral care, i.e., emotional, social and spiritual support, to youth and families. The 40-hour work schedule would include Sunday mornings, Tuesday morning staff meetings (in-person and/or Zoom), and two afternoons/early evenings for onsite outreach activities; but otherwise is flexible and can be done remotely.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Research, evaluate, and implement the youth faith formation program.
  • Responsible for guiding children, youth, and families in their understanding of themselves and their faith.
  • Plan, organize and lead outreach programs through networking with local agencies to foster collaborative family ministry opportunities.
  • Design, develop, and implement an after-school program to support the youth & family residents of Thomaston Woods, as well as other programs of interest to that community.
  • Supplement the clergy with providing pastoral care to youth and families as needed. This may include providing spiritual counseling (under supervision) to youth and families as they walk through challenging life events.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Divinity Studies, Ministry, Education, Child/Youth Development or related area.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in providing program development and implementation; team leadership background is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
  1. Compensation – Base salary is $50,000.
  2. Benefits—includes participation in the Lay Defined Contribution Plan (subject to terms of the Church Pension Fund of the Episcopal Church); Health and Dental Insurance through the Episcopal Medical Trust (policies administered by the Diocese of Southern Ohio); Continuing Education and professional related expense reimbursement (subject to terms of the parish reimbursement plan).
  3. Holidays and Vacation – The employee would be entitled to all legal holidays off, as they fall on a given work day.  In addition, the employee is entitled three (3) weeks paid vacation annually, pro-rated for 2022.  Any continuing education would be treated as “regular work hours,” including any required travel.
