Position Description

The Communications and Office Assistant reports to the Priest-In-Charge. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker who also possesses strong organizational skills and is detail oriented.

Job duties will include:

1) Office assistant

a) Track and manage responses to incoming mail, emails and phone calls
b) Track incoming prayer requests and pastoral needs
c) Maintain database updates in church management software
d) Provide administrative assistance and record keeping to vestry
|e) Maintain office supplies and order new ones as needed
f) Light bookkeeping

2) Communications within St. Patricks

a) Print bulletins for Sunday services and other special church events
b) Manage volunteer sign-ups
c) Print and distribute mail as needed

3) Communications from St. Patricks

a) Keep website attractive and up-to-date

Parish Description

St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church is a member of the Diocese of Southern Ohio and the Episcopal Church. St. Patrick’s is located in downtown Lebanon, Ohio. Our mission at St. Patrick’s is to take the love of Christ into the world. We’re a strong and stable church that is looking to invest in our own growth as we emerge from a recent clergy transition and (hopefully) from the COVID crisis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1) Demonstrated organizational skills, including calendar management, project management and prioritization; ability to work independently and effectively manage workload
2) Welcoming disposition, with a willingness to accept and serve all who come to St. Patrick’s
3) Knowledge of office etiquette and effective communication skills, both verbal and written; with a special emphasis on grammar and proofreading skills
4) Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times regarding persons and information
5) Ability to communicate well with a wide age range
6) Familiarity with (or willingness to quickly learn) the following applications:

a) PowerChurch
b) Google Suite
c) Mailchimp
d) Sign-up Genius
e) Canva
f) Quickbooks

7) Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) the traditions of the Episcopal/Anglican faith
8) Must pass a standard background check to comply with church requirements

Desirable skills

1) Work in a non-profit setting
2) Experience in making connections in the wider community
3) Graphic design experience

Job particulars

1) Part-time (16 hours per week) with potential to grow this position as budget allows.
2) Flexible hours within standard office hours. Some work can be done remotely, but this position will require regular (2-3 times per week) work on-site at the church.
